Madelia Health is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Billing Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team. This role plays an important part in ensuring accurate and timely insurance billing while supporting patients with billing questions and helping maintain the financial health of our organization.

Position Summary

The Billing Specialist is responsible for submitting and managing clinic and outpatient insurance claims while providing technical support related to patient billing. This position works closely with clinical departments, providers, and patients to ensure accurate billing, timely reimbursement, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Submit clinic and outpatient claims to insurance carriers
  • Monitor claims through billing systems and clearinghouses
  • Follow up on outstanding, denied, or rejected claims and refile when necessary
  • Manage denial and rejection workflows to ensure timely resolution
  • File secondary payer claims
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable aging and financial reports
  • Respond to and resolve patient billing inquiries professionally and efficiently
  • Research outstanding balances and assist with collection resolution activities
  • Assist with month-end billing processes
  • Support patient financial counseling as a backup resource
  • Communicate billing documentation needs with providers and clinical staff
  • Maintain accurate billing processes and documentation standards
  • Participate in educational programs, meetings, and insurance updates as needed

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • College degree preferred

Experience

  • Healthcare experience recommended
  • Healthcare billing or insurance knowledge preferred

Certifications

  • Certification through AAPC or AHIMA preferred

Position Summary

The Laboratory Assistant performs phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, waived testing, and assists with laboratory clerical functions. This role works closely with laboratory staff and clinical teams to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered diagnostic services.

What You’ll Do

  • Verify patient identification to ensure accurate specimen collection
  • Perform specimen collection, including venipuncture and swabs
  • Process specimens accurately and efficiently
  • Perform waived testing as appropriate
  • Stock, rotate, and monitor laboratory supplies and inventory
  • Participate in proficiency testing when required
  • Assist with clerical and administrative laboratory duties
  • Participate in department meetings, projects, and quality improvement efforts
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards
  • Complete other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with patients and caregivers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work as a collaborative member of a healthcare team

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare, season, and cook meals according to established menus and recipes.
  • Review daily menus to determine food preparation needs and quantities.
  • Prepare and serve meals for patients, Meals-on-Wheels participants, and hospital caregivers.
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment including mixers, slicers, blenders, and other food preparation tools.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized kitchen environment throughout each shift.
  • Monitor and record refrigerator, freezer, and food temperatures to ensure food safety standards are met.
  • Record meal counts and assist with other dietary department responsibilities as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dietary Services team to provide excellent customer service.

  • Previous quantity or commercial cooking experience preferred (one year preferred).
  • Ability to read and follow written recipes and instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a positive team environment.

  • A compassionate attitude and a desire to serve patients, coworkers, and the community.

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and carrying food and kitchen equipment, bending, stooping, and the ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment. Candidates should also be able to judge food preparation times and prepare a variety of menu items.

Qualifications

  • Current Minnesota Surgical Technologist certification or applicable nursing licensure.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of scrub or surgical technology experience preferred.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile operating field for surgical procedures.

  • Clean, sterilize, assemble, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment.

Madelia Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hospital and Emergency Department team full-time.

This role is an exciting opportunity to practice broad-spectrum rural medicine in a collaborative, patient-centered environment where providers make a direct impact on the health of the community. The ideal candidate will have experience in acute care and the ability to confidently respond to a variety of clinical situations in both inpatient and emergency settings.

  • Salary Range: $120,000 – $165,000 annually

What You’ll Do

  • Provide comprehensive patient care in the Emergency Department including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, stabilization, and follow-up coordination
  • Perform inpatient hospitalist responsibilities including admissions, rounding, patient management, and discharges
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and order appropriate labs, imaging, and treatments
  • Respond to medical emergencies and initiate life-saving interventions when needed
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality patient-centered care
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, procedures, and ongoing care plans
  • Accurately document patient care within the electronic medical record system
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice efforts

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current Minnesota NP or PA licensure
  • National board certification required (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA, or equivalent)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and CALS or ATLS certification required
  • Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department or hospitalist experience required
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a rural healthcare setting
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Position Summary

The Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician performs waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing on biological specimens such as blood and urine to assist providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role is essential in delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory services while maintaining compliance with laboratory policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, adaptable, and able to communicate effectively while multitasking in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform specimen processing, testing, and accurate reporting of results

  • Conduct waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing as authorized

  • Follow established laboratory procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting, and documentation

  • Perform and document quality control, calibrations, maintenance, and proficiency testing

  • Identify testing or equipment issues and take corrective action or notify leadership promptly

  • Maintain compliance with CLIA, TJC, hospital policies, and safety standards

  • Perform necessary functions within the Laboratory Information System (LIS)

  • Monitor and manage laboratory inventory

  • Assist with troubleshooting and coordinate equipment service or repairs as needed

  • Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, safety drills, and committees

  • Maintain clear communication with other departments to support continuity of care

  • Attend required workshops, in-services, and trainings

  • Support additional duties as assigned by the Laboratory Manager

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of hospital laboratory experience preferred

Certification

  • ASCP or AMT certification required

What You’ll Do

  • Perform CT, portable X-rays, C-arm, DEXA, and diagnostic radiography (X-ray) exams.
